Media & playlists

How to upload videos and images for display, group them into playlists, and use the Schedule to play them by time of day.

Uploading media

Go to the Media menu.
Drag and drop files onto the upload area, or use Choose files to pick video or image files.
Click Upload; progress is shown and when finished the files appear in the media list.

Supported formats are listed on the upload screen. Typically video (e.g. MP4) and image (e.g. JPG, PNG) formats are supported.
Total storage used is shown at the top or in a summary area.

Managing media

List view: See uploaded files in a grid or list.
Preview: Use the View button on a file to open a preview (image, video, PDF, etc.).
Delete: Remove files you no longer need with Delete and confirm. If a file is in a playlist, it will be removed from that playlist too.

What is a playlist

A playlist is an ordered list of media files.
In the Schedule you define rules like “play this playlist from 9:00 to 12:00”; devices then play that playlist’s content in order during that time.

Creating a playlist

Go to the Playlists menu.
Click New playlist, enter a name (and optional description), and create it.
Open Edit on the new playlist to go to the playlist editor.

Editing a playlist

In the playlist editor you can:

Edit name and description: Change the playlist title and description.
Add media: Choose files from the media list and add them to the playlist. Order of addition is the play order.
Reorder: Use Up / Down to change play order.
Remove items: Remove items from the playlist (the media file stays; it’s only removed from this playlist).

Click Save when done.

Linking with the schedule

A playlist alone does not play on devices.

Create a schedule in the Schedule menu and add rules for “when” (day and time) and “which playlist” to play. Then in Devices assign that schedule to each device. Devices will then play the right playlist at the right time.

In short: Upload media → Put it in playlists → Set schedule rules by time → Assign the schedule to devices.
